LO2: TREATMENT
Brief: To produce an original film trailer or music video
for a real client.
The purpose of the video is to entertain and promote the
artist. Using common filming techniques to fit the chosen genre.
The target audience is 15-25, 70:30 male, female split. They
are digital natives that have a passion for music and fashion. Keeping up to
date with the latest hip hop videos and interviews. It will mostly appeal to the
ABC1 classification due to the nature of content the video will promote. 
We have asked the artist and he did not want to do a story narrative. This gives less structure however allows us to make themes throughout the video that include editing and camera angles to display emotion and visceral pleasure to the viewer. I'd like to include gimmicks of old videoing technology such as VHS tape and other grainy obsolete equipment. Switching as a glitch effect. I think this would add contrast to the original hip hop videoing style since it is usually very focussed on the now. The main scenes will show visual interpretations of the lyrics e.g. animated heart eyes when talking about a girl. I think this will create a vibrancy to the video and it will correlate with the up beat music. To match the switch in old vs new I'd like to make the video switch from reality to fiction. The false reality will appear demonic or trippy with over exposed images of abstract scenes. Cinematic scenes will include a tracking shot of 'XAK' hanging out of a car. To film it there will be two cars running parallel at a steady rate. Hopefully we will shoot this scene in golden hour to get really nice balanced light.
To attract my target audience I will produce a visually
entertaining video with vibrant outfits, interesting locations and feature a luxury
car/s.  The audience will be able to
relate to the video since the artist 'XAK' is a similar age of 19. Special
effects will show nods to popular music videos they have seen. Inspiration will
be taken from popular videos like 'Butterfly Effect'; in this video they use
rapid imagery is to create original art work and keeps the viewers’ attention.
The animation influence comes from the video producer 'Coal Bennet'. His work
focuses on projects filled with energy he complements the Artists music with
fun upbeat video including amazing visual effects.
To market this video I would make Instagram teaser clips to
show the audience what to expect before release. This will give the audience
something to look forward to as well as knowing the release date.  Advertising through this media channel would
attract my target audience because it is relevant to their everyday life and
they would see this on their phone.
The video will be 3:04 this is because the song is this long and it matches common music video conventions.
Distribution methods will primarily be on Instagram and youtube. To the lead up of the release I will make teaser trailers so the artist and the audience can build anticipation and over all get more views.
